Lease update

Wymondham Town Football Club Limited (WTFC) would like to announce that yesterday Tuesday 9th February the lease was dated and completed a head of the deadline of 5pm. This was despite the club receiving any of the lengthy legal documentation until 2pm on Friday February 5th.

The board of WTFC have worked incredibly hard to save the club over the past 2 years. We all commit over 30 hours unpaid per week to achieve this. Ultimately it was left to the board to financially guarantee the lease. This was something the board had not envisaged doing. The board will sign legal documents between the 6 board members that will keep us all on the board and as Guarantors until 2020.

Andy Gardiner, Joffy Garwood, Emma Chambers, Craig Wright, Mark Brown, Derek Ward all stepped forward and saved the club. Everyone now knows who was in attendance at last Tuesdays full Council meeting that the Council were committed to evicting the Club. It is a large commitment for each person on the board If everything should fail. We feel however we have given the club a 4.5 year life line at the very least.

Wymondham Asks Why (WAW) fought long and hard to keep the meadow green from the ASDA development. WTFC were stunned and amazed over the past 2 weeks at their complete silence at a time when the Kings Head Meadow has never been more under threat. Nothing said on the eviction of the football club or the destruction of the play scape. With both gone how was the meadow going to stay green?

We would now ask Wymondham People to continue to support the Club. We have our first home first team game on February 20th 2016 2.30pm Kick Off. This game would not have happened without Councillors Underwood and Halls stepping in to save eviction last Tuesday evening and the board guaranteeing the club.

WE URGE ALL WYMONDHAM PEOPLE TO COME AND WATCH THE GAME THAT AFTERNOON HAVE A DRINK IN THE CLUB HOUSE AND HAVE AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSED.  PLEASE SUPPORT THE CLUB.

We want it to be a celebration of saving once again the football club and the green space that the football club fully maintain. Also we believe it will show total solidarity with the campaign to save the plays cape as part of that green space. Please come and support the club on February 20th.

Show this Council (Councillors Halls and Underwood excluded) that they can’t just take things away from Wymondham People on a whim.

We saved the club now we need all of you to help keep it open.

We would like to say a massive thank you to you all especially Councillors Halls and Underwood for saving this football club without their strength and insight the Club would have been gone a long with the Playscape.
